Tesla has become the largest carmaker in US history by capitalization. The company’s market value exceeded $81 billion, breaking the Ford record set in 1999. This was noticed in WSJ.

At the time of writing, Tesla’s stock price is $492 apiece, with a capitalization of $89 billion. Since the beginning of the year, the value of securities has grown by 5% amid the opening of a factory in Shanghai and a successful quarter.

At the same time, Tesla is still far from the first place in the world in capitalization among automakers. It is held by Toyota with a market value of approximately $230 billion, and the status of the “most expensive” company in the US is held by Apple with a capitalization of $1.3 trillion.

As noted at WSJ, Tesla has not yet received an annual profit, despite good reports. The figures do not take inflation and debts into account, but in the second quarter of 2019 alone, the company received $400 million in losses.
