This is an example for everyone!
The new Philippine law requires all graduates of schools and colleges to plant at least 10 trees before they go to university.
The law will result in up to 525 billion trees being planted by just one generation. This will help fight global climate change.
The project will involve more than 12 million primary school graduates, 5 million high school graduates and nearly 500,000 college graduates each year.
Trees will be planted in mangroves, existing forests, some protected areas, military landfills, abandoned places.
Species selected for planting should correspond to each location, climate and terrain, and preference will be given to local species.
The country’s Ministry of Education and the Higher Education Commission will jointly implement and enforce the bill.
