The Oscar 2020 award ceremony may have been memorable, but with the audience ratings, everything is not so good.

This year 23.6 million people watched the presentation of the awards, which is 20 percent less than last year (about 6 million fewer viewers). Oscar did not have such a low result yet.

The last anti-record belonged to Oscar-2018 – then 26.5 million people watched it.

This is the second year in a row when the ceremony does without a presenter (in 2019, they were supposed to be comedian Kevin Hart, but he refused after users found homophobic jokes of many years ago on the Internet). The organizers said that this is a good solution, which allowed them to achieve a jump in the audience and decided to repeat the formula.

With all this, the Oscar is the most-watched ceremony of the season. Grammys, for example, 5 million less viewers.

This year was remembered by us for the success of the Korean film “Parasites” – it not only took 4 awards, but also became the first non-English film in history to receive the “Best Film” award.
