Do not rush to carry in the workshop.
Over time, any iPhone slows down. And although there is information that sometimes Apple deliberately slows down the old models so that people buy new ones, this is not the only reason for the fallen performance.
Most often, phone performance can be improved without referring to specialists.
Here are 7 ways to do it:
1. Restart the phone.
It sounds trite, but nonetheless: if you have any unusual problem with your phone, try turning it off and on again. Perhaps some application inhibits the operation of the device.
2. Update your phone.
It is advisable to always have the latest version of the operating system because iOS updates help protect the device. But, more importantly, they often provide increased productivity, speeding up the phone or extending the life of the battery.
Here’s how to make sure you have the latest version of iOS installed:
- Select “Settings”.
- Select the “General” section, then “Software Update”.
- Make sure that “on” is selected in the “Automatic Updates” item.
- If an update is available immediately, install it.
3. Remove rarely used applications.
Applications can slow down the phone for two reasons: because they take up space and because they take up RAM when they are running in the background.
Therefore, review the list of applications in your phone and delete all that you never use (or use very rarely).
4. Clear the cache.
Speaking of background applications: the built-in browser can also slow down your iPhone. The fact is that Safari caches recently visited pages, cookies, logins and other data, speeding up work on the Internet. But too much cache slows down the phone.
So try clearing your browser’s cache so that the entire system runs faster.
5. Make graphics easier.
The phone will work faster if you reduce the load on the processor. A heaped graphics, as you know, requires a lot of power.
Unlike the computer, the iPhone doesn’t have that many custom graphics settings. But what can be done:
- Go to Settings.
- Click “General”, then “Universal Access”.
- Select “Lower Transparency” and turn it on.
- Go back.
- Select “Reduce Motion” and turn it on.
6. Disable automatic background processes.
We do not recommend this, unless the phone does not slow down very unbearably. However, in extreme cases it helps to slightly increase the speed.
- Go to Settings.
- Select “iTunes and the App Store”, then in the “Automatic Downloads” section, turn off the “Music”, “Applications” and “Updates” items.
- Now go to the “Basic” settings.
- Disable Background App Updates.
7. Replace battery.
For a couple of years, the battery pretty decent wear. Although he may work for many more years, his performance drops dramatically.
To check the health of the battery, go to “Settings” and select “Battery”, then “Battery Status”.
You can see the maximum capacity of the battery and its peak performance. If it says: “Now the battery maintains normal peak performance”, then everything is fine. But if the battery condition is “significantly deteriorated,” call Apple support and order a new one.
